| Approaching the point where AW, in his diagram of this ascent, described " a little doubt is likely to arise at point C, where a steepish wall of broken crag needs to be negotiated, but there is easy scrambling only and no real difficulty in finding a way up" |

| Above the ramp the path comes close to deepest section of Piers Gill where it encounters a re-entrant gully which drops vertically into the bed of the ravine. Kate and Jasper peer into the abyss while Conor looks up the escape route, the steep but straightforward upper part of the gully |
