Woodend Height - Route One

 

Start - Birker Fell Road SD 171 977 Distance - 2.25 miles Ascent - 855 feet Time - 1 hour : 20 minutes

 

 

The walk starts from the access lane to High Ground Farm where there is room to park cars on its verge
Directly opposite the car parking area is the start of the bridleway track to Devoke Water
Seat How and White Pike from the gate on the bridleway track
Looking back to Esk Pike, Bowfell and Crinkle Crags from the gate

Devoke Water and the boathouse which was built in 1777 to replace an earlier one which was located further to the north
The wide track ends at the boathouse, a bridleway path continues along the southern side of Devoke Water

We ford Hall Beck at the western end of Washfold Point and climb directly towards the col between Woodend Height and White Pike fording Rigg Beck on the way then following its western bank almost all the way to the col
