| Broad Oak is the start of this walk where there is room to park a few cars along the short lane |
| Almost opposte the lane is a signposted farm road |
| The road leads past Mill Wood to Stainton Farm |
| Stainton Pike comes into view as the farm road nears its highest point |
| The Knott comes into view as the road approaches Stainton Farm |
| Stainton Farm |
| Just before the farm a stile gives access to a footbridge spanning Stainton Beck, the ensuing path, despite being a ROW, is difficult to follow |
| Continue through the farmyard onto a forestry track instead |
| Stainton Pike from the forestry frack beyond the farm |
| White Pike, Woodend Height and Yoadcastle from the track |
| Stainton Pike with new planting of trees on The Intake on the right |
| We leave the track and take to a path on the left which leads across to a gate in the wall ahead |
| The gate gives access to the open fellside |
| The Knott from the gate |
| The path is initially slightly boggy ..... |
| ..... but soon improves as it approaches bands of gorse |
| Stainton Pike across the bands of very prickly gorse |
| An indistict path meanders its way through the thickets of gorse ..... |
| ..... but becomes a litte clearer as the gorse begins to thin out |
| Climbing the open slope towards The Knott. The wide rake between the crags on the left looks tempting but it much easier to continue straight ahead and ascend the slope between the twin summits |
| Looking back to the huge bulk of Burn Moor |
| Stainton Pike from the lower slopes of The Knott |
| The twin summits of The Knott, The Wainwright top on the left and the true summit on the right |
| Stainton Pike over the theThe Knott's south shoulder |
| Higher on the slope below the twin summits |
| Looking over towards Yoadcastle |
| Approaching the easy open slope below the shallow col between the summits |
| Stainton Pike from the climb to the col |
| The path up to the col |
| Approaching the col, the true summit is on the right |
| White Pike and Woodend Height from the true summit |
| Yoadcastle from the true summit |
| Stainton Pike from the true summit |
| Burn Moor from the true summit |
