Longlands Fell - Route One


 

Start - Longlands NY 266 359 Distance - 1.2 miles Ascent - 855 feet Time - 55 minutes

 

 

The waterworks building beside Longlands Bridge is the starting point for this walk
There is room to park a few cars on the north side of the bridge
A gate beside the car parking area gives access to the Uldale Commons and the bridleway track to Green Head

The bridleway forms part of the Cumbria Way, a long distance path between Ulverston and Carlisle

The bridleway gradually turns to pass over the end of Longland's Fell north ridge

In a little under half a mile along the bridleway a faint path turns off to climb up to the line of the north ridge which provides a 'short-cut' ..........
..... although it's more usual to continue along the bridleway for a further 300 yards and begin the ascent of the north ridge on a much more obvious path which starts just before reaching a bridleway waymark post that is signed for Great Sca Fell 
The 'short-cut' path does become more clearer as height is gained
